How does my metabolism work exactly?

Metabolism is the process of converting food (calories) into energy. The efficiency with which your body does this is referred to as your metabolic rate. Many factors affect your metabolic rate, including weight, age, body composition, hormone levels, and gender.

This makes it a highly unique and important number.

Our resting metabolic rate test is a simple, highly accurate 15-20 minute breath test you do while sitting or lying comfortably in a chair. The air you breathe out is analyzed to discover exactly how much oxygen and CO2 your body is consuming/expending and how many calories you're burning.

The RMR test is more accurate than all formula-based RMR/BMR estimates.

What can I expect?

Preparing For The Test

In order to get the most accurate results, it is important to follow the standard protocol for a Resting Metabolic Rate test:

  1. You will fast for a minimum of 5 hours before the test. Water only.
  2. Avoid exercising prior to your metabolic test.
  3. If possible, avoid the use of stimulants such as caffeine.

During The Test

During your test you will sit or recline in a comfortable position and breathe into a KORR MetaBreather mouthpiece.

  2. Keep lips sealed lightly around the MetaBreather. It is important that all the air you breathe out is analyzed.
