Built for every body and goal.

Lose Weight

Lose the fat.
Keep the muscle.

Visceral Fat Risk
+55%
Elevated visceral fat is one of the strongest predictors of cardiovascular disease. DEXA measures it directly.
Weight loss & GLP-1 users

The scale counts pounds. It can't tell you which kind you're losing.

When the weight comes off, what matters is whether it's fat or muscle. DexaFit tells you.
On a GLP-1, as much as 30% of what's lost can be lean mass, the exact tissue you want to protect.
Know where you stand, region by region, and keep the muscle while the fat goes.

Good enough doesn't win. Measure the margin.

VO₂ Max is your performance ceiling, measured directly so you train against the real number.
Regional lean mass, by limb and trunk, shows you exactly where you're built and where you're not.

Women's Health

Every stage leaves a mark.
See it first.

Bone Density Lost in 5–7 Yrs Post-Menopause
Up to 20%
Women can lose up to 20% of bone density in the 5–7 years following menopause. A baseline before that window is the one you'll be glad you have. (IOF)
Every stage, not just menopause

The most important changes are the ones you can't see.

Bone density peaks in your late 20s, so a baseline now is the easiest one you'll ever take.
Lean mass starts declining for most women around 35, years before the mirror shows it.
Perimenopause shifts fat toward visceral stores and accelerates bone loss, and DEXA measures both in one scan.
Your metabolism shifts with every hormonal change, and RMR shows exactly how much, at any age.

Men's Health

Lean Mass Lost Per Decade After 30

Men lose 3–8% of lean mass every decade after 30 regardless of activity level. Most don't know it's happening. (Janssen et al., J. Applied Physiology)
Strength, metabolism, labs

The numbers that decide how strong you stay past 40.

Men lose 3-8% lean mass per decade after 30. DEXA tracks it region by region so you know what to protect.
Visceral fat is the hidden driver of cardiovascular and metabolic risk, the kind the mirror never shows.
VO₂ Max is one of the single strongest predictors of how long you'll live. Measure it directly, not from a watch.

A DEXA scan measures body fat to ±1–2%; no scale or calculator can. Body fat % alone misses visceral fat—the fat around your organs (see the Metabolic Shield tab). Percentiles derived from the DexaFit database of users across 41 states and 4 continents.

Did you knowAfter a meal, your muscles soak up most of the sugar in your blood—insulin is the key, and muscle is the room it goes into. More lean mass and less visceral fat clears that sugar faster, before it can do harm.

We use log₁₀(lean mass ÷ visceral fat) because the raw ratio swings wildly when visceral fat is low; the validated risk lines sit on the log scale. Insulin resistance peaks below log 1.80 and flattens above 2.50—past that, more buffer adds little (Shao et al., Front. Endocrinol. 2023). This tracks visceral fat, the metabolically harmful kind, not total body fat. Muscle clears most post-meal glucose (DeFronzo & Tripathy, Diabetes Care 2009). Educational, not a diagnosis. Quick Answers

Common Questions

What makes DexaFit different?

Most of your health data is a guess. Wearables estimate, calculators approximate, the scale hands you one blunt number. DexaFit measures. In a single visit you get a clinical-grade DEXA body composition scan, a VO₂ Max test, and an RMR metabolism test: the real numbers underneath your strength, your metabolism, and your longevity. That's your ground truth. Everything else gets calibrated against it.

Who is DexaFit for?

If you take your body seriously, DexaFit is for you. You may have first heard it from Tim Ferriss in The Four-Hour Body, seen DexaFit featured on Netflix's You Are What You Eat, or read about it in the longevity books and podcasts you already follow. It's the same gold-standard technology NASA uses to monitor astronauts and elite athletes use to stay on top of their sport.

Why is DexaFit considered "ground truth"?

Because these numbers can't be faked, and they keep each other honest. A lab value can be normalized in a week. Body weight can be cut overnight. The right drug or supplement can drive fast weight loss, or quick gains in muscle and strength. But a shortcut almost always costs you somewhere else: lose weight too fast and lean mass goes with it; chase size and strength and visceral fat creeps up or your VO₂ Max slips. Real progress moves the metrics that matter most, lean mass, visceral fat, bone, and VO₂ Max, in the same direction at once. Move them together, and you didn't game a result. You built something that lasts.

What's DexaFit's story?

DexaFit started in 2011 with one goal: take the clinical-grade testing that lived inside hospitals and put it in the hands of everyone serious about their health. Today it runs across four continents and 40+ states. Wherever you go, the test, the app, and your numbers go with you. Read the full story →

What do I actually learn?

Where you truly stand. Your lean mass and where it sits. The visceral fat wrapped around your organs. Your bone density. Your VO₂ Max, the single strongest predictor of how long you'll live. And the labs underneath it all. Not a wellness score or a vibe: the actual numbers that decide how strong you stay and how long you last, with personalized targets to move them.

What is a DEXA scan?

The clearest picture of your body you'll ever get. A DEXA scan separates fat from lean mass from bone and maps each one region by region, at ±2% accuracy, the clinical gold standard. Two people can weigh the exact same and be built completely differently, so the scale was never going to tell you who you are. DEXA does, and shows you exactly where to put the work. About 8 minutes, fully clothed, results the same day. Read more about the DEXA scan →

What is VO₂ Max, and why does it matter?

VO₂ Max is how much oxygen your body can actually use, and it's the single strongest predictor of how long, and how well, you'll live: stronger than smoking, blood pressure, or cholesterol (Mandsager, JAMA 2018: 122,007 patients, a 5× mortality gap between the least and most fit). Your watch estimates it. DexaFit measures it directly, then hands you the real number and the zones to train against. Raise it, and you add years. Read more about VO₂ Max testing →

What is an RMR metabolism test?

Your metabolism is the number every diet and calorie target is built on, and most people are working off a formula that's a guess, off by 20% or more. That's why plans stall and "eat less" stops working. DexaFit measures your real metabolic rate from a few minutes of quiet breathing, so you finally know how much your body burns and can eat for the body you actually have. Read more about RMR testing →

Does DexaFit measure my bone density?

Yes, two ways, and they're not the same. Every total-body DEXA scan includes whole-body bone density, with T-score and Z-score across spine, hip, and total body. That's where most people start. For a deeper look, select locations offer DexaStrong, a site-specific scan of the hip, lumbar spine, forearm, and wrist, built for anyone serious about osteoporosis risk or fracture prevention. Bone loss is silent and starts earlier than most expect, so the baseline you take today is the one you'll be glad you have. See DexaStrong →

How accurate is DexaFit compared to my scale or wearable?

Your scale gives one number. Your wearable estimates from heart rate and pace and can be off 10 to 20%. DexaFit measures directly: ±2% on body composition, and a mask that reads the oxygen you actually use for VO₂ Max. Same metrics your devices approximate, except these are real. Use the daily tools for daily signals. Use DexaFit for the truth.

How do I get started, and what's a visit like?

Find your nearest DexaFit and book. The visit runs about 20 to 45 minutes, depending on what you schedule: an 8-minute DEXA scan, plus your VO₂ Max or RMR test. Your results are available the same day, with a real person walking you through personalized targets and a clear read on where you stand, ready to act on with your doctor, your trainer, or on your own. Get DexaFit now →

Can I share my results with my doctor?

Absolutely, that's the point. DexaFit isn't a plan, it's the ground truth you build one on. Your full report exports as a PDF in clinical language your physician, trainer, or nutritionist will recognize, so the conversation starts from real numbers instead of guesses. Bring it to your doctor, your coach, or your own ambition. The data is yours.

What research backs DexaFit?

Every test is grounded in peer-reviewed evidence: JAMA, NEJM, ACSM, IOF. But DexaFit goes further: it sits on one of the largest clinical-grade body composition and metabolic datasets in the world. So your numbers aren't read against a textbook average, they're benchmarked against real measurement at scale. Explore DexaFit Research →
